LEXINGTON - Gayle Bailey Padgett, 65, the wife of Larry W. Padgett, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Lexington, SC, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur G. Bailey and Georgie Clark Bailey and granddaughter of Henry O. and Birdie Nates Clark of Chapin and John C. and Ella Gregory Bailey of Lexington. A graduate of Lexington High School, she received her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina, and retired from the US Postal Service. She was a member of Red Bank United Methodist Church where she had served as organist, historian, and Sunday school teacher. She loved life, her family, her flowers, and especially being a grandmother to her three grandsons.
She is survived by her husband, Larry W. Padgett of Lexington; mother, Georgie Clark Bailey of Lexington; daughter, Nancy Gayle Padgett of Bowman; son, Dr. Damon Bailey Padgett (Emily), and their sons, Palmer, Davis and Isaac, of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Sandra Simons (Laverne) and Sheila Barrier (Bob) all of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday, August 4, 2014 at Caughman Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Red Bank United Methodist Church in Lexington with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
