Gene Edwin “Ed” McDaniel, age 75, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024. He was born on November 14, 1948 in Hemingway, South Carolina to the late Frances Tanner and Eugene McDaniel.
Ed was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked in computer programming as a computer systems analyst for many years. In retirement, Ed continued designing websites, was a professional photographer, and a D.J. for hire. He loved dancing, playing golf, woodworking, fishing, gardening, and spending time with friends and family. Ed attended Red Bank United Methodist Church where he helped with audio/visuals and maintained the Prayer Garden. Ed always had a smile on his face and was known for being of service to others.
He is survived by his daughter, Catherine McDaniel Hill (Barry); grandchildren, Christopher Boatwright (Sabrina), and Krystallynn Robertson (Cole); great-grandchildren, Amelia Boatwright, LillyMay Stone, and Madelynn Robertson; sister, Joan McDaniel; and brother, Danny McDaniel.
In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Shelly, Sr.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072.
