LEXINGTON - George R. Critchley of Lexington SC died on November 10, 2017. Born in 1928 in Danese West Virginia; he joined the US Army in 1946. While stationed at Fort Jackson, he met and married his beloved wife of 63 years, Dessaree Turbeville Critchley (deceased). George proudly served his country for 28 years rising to the rank of 1st Sergeant. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam, and received a Bronze Star for his service while in Viet Nam. He retired to South Carolina where he spent the remainder of his life, and was a member in good standing of the Masons and Shriners. George never forgot his West Virginia roots, returning often to visit his extended family, and took great joy in hunting with his brothers and cousins. To those how knew him is was a generous and affable man who loved the smell of a new car, as evidenced by the many he owned; enjoyed a game of chance, now and again; and a good fish story.
He is survived by his five children George Michael(Linda) Critchley, Richard S. (Dorothy and George R Critchley II, both deceased) Critchley, Sara E. Critchley, Mark D. Critchley, and Martha L. Critchley, grand son Robert Critchley, great granddaughter Cloie, and his siblings Alfred Critchley, Jack Critchley , Delbert(Doris) Critchley , JoAnn Lehet, Betty Seldomridge, Alice Wolf, and Dorothy (Richard) Sheaves
