SANDY RUN – Funeral services for Georgetta R. Koontz, 70, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with interment in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Mrs. Koontz was born May 29, 1941 in Medaryville, IN and she passed peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. She was a daughter of the late Ausben Marshall and Fannie Back Marshall.
Mrs. Koontz is survived by her husband, Richard L. Koontz of Sandy Run, SC; daughters, Sadie Lynn Wagner (Wayne) of Rock Hill, SC, Sandie Lynn Hendren (Larry) of Gaston, SC and Marcie Ruth Murphy (Craig) of Chapin, SC; brothers, Darl Marshall of LaPorte, IN; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was predeceased by two sisters, six brothers and a son, Matthew Koontz.
