

IRMO – Funeral services for Grace Evie Weed, 56, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Christus Victor Lutheran Church with interment to follow in Bethlehem Lutheran Church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Ms. Weed passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born in Raleigh, NC on July 29, 1959.
Grace was a lifelong Lutheran and currently a member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church. She graduated from Irmo High School in 1977 and the University of South Carolina in 1981. She received her Master’s Degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in 2010. Her greatest pleasure was working with the youth of the South Carolina Synod, and was well known as “Mama Grace”. She was also active in the Republican Party and was a volunteer for Congressman Floyd Spence, Coroner Harry Harman, Congressman Joe Wilson and many others.
She is survived by her brother, David Claude Weed; nieces, Victoria Grace and Mary Elizabeth; nephew, William David Weed. David’s fiancé, Jessica Clark and her daughter, Samantha. She was predeceased by her parents, Claude Rayon Weed and Minnie Whetstone Weed, as well as her beloved furry child, Ginger.
