

CAYCE - Harold David Brown, 82, of Cayce, SC, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at home with his family at his side.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with interment in Southland Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Bill Oswald and Rev. Clint Lawyer will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 16, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dave was born in Greenville, SC to the late Hubert and Ruby Brown. He was one of seven children and was predeceased by sisters, Carolyn Yates, Elizabeth Forbes and brothers, Gene and Ray Brown. He was also preceded in death by his son, David, and grandson, Christopher Brown.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Flonise; his daughter, Janet (Billy) Smith; two sons, Douglas Brown and Curtis (Linda) Brown; grandchildren, Justin (Mallory) Smith, Billy (Christy) Smith and Tracey (David) Kirkland; sister, Connie Walker and brother, Larry Brown.
Dave was a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star where he served as Worthy Grand Patron, Grand Lecturer and General Grand Chapter Committee member for the Grand Chapter of SC. He also served as Worthy Patron of Cayce Chapter 260. In addition, Dave was an active member of the Cayce Masonic Lodge where he served as Master of the lodge, along with numerous other positions. He was also an active member and Sunday school teacher at West Side Baptist Church of West Columbia. Dave was also a dedicated member of Dunn’s Chapel, of West Columbia, serving as a deacon, treasurer and Sunday school teacher. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War era. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
