Gene found joy in his work as a professional painter, taking pride in helping transform homes. Later in life, he transitioned to selling insurance and vehicles. Known for his warm personality and sense of humor, Gene never met a stranger and was always ready with a joke or story.
An avid outdoorsman, Gene loved hunting and fishing. He shared this passion with his son and grandsons, teaching them to hunt and celebrating their first deer together. A dedicated family man, he rarely missed baseball games, birthday celebrations, weddings, or holiday gatherings.
In recent years, Gene devoted himself to caring for his wife Runtsy as she faced health challenges due to Alzheimer’s disease. His unwavering love and commitment were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Visitation and services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Chapel of Hope at Southland Memorial Gardens, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, South Carolina. Visitation begins at 2:00 p.m., followed by a small intimate service at 2:45 p.m.
