Ms. Harriett Owens Thomas accepted Jesus as her Personal Savior at a very early age and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was known for her kindness, quick wit and total devotion to her family.
Harriett was a graduate of Williston-Elko High School Class of 1959 and was an active member of Oakwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed gospel music, serving God, and helping those in need. She was dearly loved by everyone and a shining light to so many people’s lives. Her sweet spirit and smile touched everyone who had the blessing of meeting her.
Harriett is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Charles E. Thomas; her children, Ken H. Thomas and fiancé, Doris Moorer, of Pelion, SC, Mark A. Thomas (Redd) of Lexington, SC, Mark E. Thomas and wife, Lisa, of NC, Lee E. Thomas and wife, Kathy, of Leesville, SC, Lisa A. Miller and husband, Lewis, of Pensacola, FL, Kelley T. Nettles and husband, Robert, of Lexington, SC and Bruce A. Thomas and wife, Yvonne, of Arizona; grandchildren, Matthew J. Miller, C. Taylor Thomas, Christian L. Thomas, Kennedy Grace Tyler and Keaton M. Tyler; sisters, Verna O. Shumpert, Claudia O. Stout, June O. Baylor and Eula O. Hightower, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon H. Owens and Velva W. Owens and brother, Ponce De Leon “Bubba” Owens.
The family will be returning to the family home at 124 Ridgecrest Drive, Lexington, SC 29072 after the interment at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. They have asked that family and friends stop by and celebrate the well-lived life of our beloved angel on earth.
