

LEXINGTON, SC - Helen Barbee Elliott, 82, of Lexington, SC died from complications of Alzheimer's Disease on Thursday, April 30, 2026. She was born November 30, 1943 in Columbia, SC, the oldest of four children of the late Dorothy Elizabeth Kearse and Robert Moore Barbee.
Helen was proud to have been raised in Columbia, SC and have graduated from Eau Claire High School (Shamrocks) and the University of South Carolina (Gamecocks). She devoted her professional career to Human Resources, serving companies in South Carolina and North Carolina. However, the joy of her life was being called Grandma.
Helen believed she was blessed to have grown up in a Southern Baptist church where she experienced a strong foundation in biblical principles, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and Lord and received the power of the Holy Spirit who served to guide Helen's thoughts, words and actions throughout her lifetime. Throughout her adult life, Helen had been an active member of churches in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Helen is survived by her husband, William Dale Elliott; two sons, Steve (Wendy) McMillan and Paul McMillan; step-children, Meagan Schneider, Kristen Ashley, and Jeff Elliott; grandchildren, Nicholas, Addie, Aidan, Bridget, Seth, and Georgia; sister, Betty Micolowsky; and brothers, Robert Barbee, Jr. and William Barbee. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert McMillan.
A Service of Death and Resurrection will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 8, 2026 in the Sanctuary of the East Campus of Mt. Horeb Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, SC, 29072. Visitation will follow in the Student Room, just outside of the Sanctuary.
A private burial for the family will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Horeb Church Concessions of Hope Ministry or to an organization working to provide Alzheimer's and Dementia care, support, research or advocacy.
The Elliott family is in the care of Caughman-Harman Funeral Home.
