

LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Miss Helen Elizabeth Fox, 95, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Lexington United Methodist church. The burial will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
On Saturday, January 26, 2013 at approximately 4:00 p.m. at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, Helen heard those cherished words from her Lord and Savior “well done good and faithful servant”.
Born September 5, 1917 in Lexington, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late James Henry Fox, Sr. and Katie Belle Caughman Fox. She was predeceased by her siblings, Sara Vernon Fox Madden (Bill), Katie Caughman Fox Lowman and James Henry Fox, Jr. (Susan). She was also preceded in death by her nephew, James H. Fox, II.
She is survived by her devoted niece and caregiver, Foxanne M. Scruggs, (W.T.); nephews, John L. Fox (Bonnie), Paul D. Fox (Melinda) and Henry B. Lowman (Karen). Also, she is survived by six great-nieces and nephews along with nine great-great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Dr. Cecil B. Lowman.
Helen was a graduate of Lexington High School and Lander College. She earned her Masters in Education from the University of South Carolina and was a first grade teacher for 41 years with most of those years spent at Lexington Elementary School. She was a life- long member of Lexington United Methodist Church and was extremely devoted to her church. Helen served the church in many capacities including teaching the Ladies Bible Class and singing in the church choir for many, many years. She was also involved with the Stephen Ministry at the church. This sweet lady loved to help others and for many years she delivered Meals on Wheels and drove friends to appointments. She was dearly loved by everyone and will be extremely missed.
The family would like to extend extreme heartfelt thanks to her dedicated and loving caregivers: Sandra Burke, Debra Jeffcoat and Nikie Sullivan. In addition, we would like to especially thank her wonderful, caring doctors at Palmetto Health Senior Primary Care Practice and also the Staff of Palmetto Health Richland Hospital for the loving care they gave Helen during her illness.
