Henry Grady Strange Jr.

Grady was born on November 28, 1941 in Winnsboro, South Carolina, where he was raised. He graduated from. Mt Zion High school in 1960. He served in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic from 1962-1964.

Grady married the love of his life, Sandra Watkins Strange, on July 24, 1970 and through that love came two children, Allen and Lisa. He made a home for his family in Lexington, South Carolina. He was a member of Lexington Baptist Church that has surrounded his family with so much love to this day. He started his career with Southern Bell, where he worked hard to provide for his family for 33 years. After his retirement he was offered his “dream job” as caretaker of Pine Island plantation, where he and his wife would call home for the next 13 years. They joined Baptist Church of Beaufort where they made many great friends. They made the decision to come back home to Lexington in 2011 to spend the rest of their lives loving on and making lasting memories with their children and granddaughter, Christa Hope. Grady took great care of his beautiful wife in their home as her Alzheimer’s progressed, and until she took her final breath.

His love for Jesus was first and foremost, and then for his wife, his children, and for his precious granddaughter, Christa, that he loved so dearly.

Grady is survived by his son, Allen Strange; daughter, Lisa Berrier; granddaughter, Christa Hope Berrier; his two sisters, Sandy Clowney and Georgianna Seymour (Ted); and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Lexington Baptist Church, 308 East Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Lexington Baptist Church (payable to missions or senior adult ministry) or the American Cancer Society.
