Born in Lexington County, he was the son of the late Ira Bartow Howell, Sr. and Edna Bell Boone Howell. Mr. Howell was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He retired from Howell Builders, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lida Dowd Howell and a brother, John Edwin Howell.
Surviving are his children, Iris Wyndham (Bruce) of Lexington, Allan Howell (Nathalie) of Beaufort, and Derenda McDermott (Rick) of Lexington; five grandchildren, Tanner Howell, Benjamin Howell, Allison Sloan, Trevor Wyndham and Patrick Bradley; and nine great-grandchildren.
A private family gathering will inter his ashes at Southland Memorial Gardens, honoring his memory with love and quiet remembrance.
