James Marvin Catoe, age 82, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025 after a long illness. He was born in Ware Shoals, SC to the late Joseph D. and Bernice Holley Catoe. He was a BC High graduate, Air Force Veteran, and a retired plumber.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Sue Connelly Catoe; daughters, Beth (David) Moore of Pelion and Cindy (Danny) Kyzer of Gilbert; grandchildren, Tabitha (Robby) Wylie, Leah (Seth) Rodriguez, Zack (Allison) Moore, Zek (Megan) Kyzer, Ben Kyzer, and Sam Kyzer; along with 11 (almost 12) great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Geraldine Catoe Areheart; brothers, Ronnie Catoe and Dean Catoe; and son, Allen Catoe.
Marvin was a man of few words but had a quick wit when he wanted to. He loved being outdoors and finding a snake on his adventures in the woods was a great thrill for him. He was a huge Rush Limbaugh fan. He had a deep love for his family that he didn’t always know how to express. He had a knack for creating things out of nothing and loved stretching a dollar. He will be greatly missed!
The family wishes to thank Agape Hospice and dear friend, Peggy Bailey who helped care for him.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at West Side Baptist Cemetery, 3121 Delree Street, West Columbia SC 29170.
