James Condon

James Edward Condon, age 75, of Columbia, SC passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at his home. He was born on August 6, 1947 in Camden, NJ and was the son of the late Sarah Smith Condon and James John Condon, Jr.

Jim grew up in Charleston, SC and received an associate’s degree from Trident Technical College. He served his country in the 1st Calvery division of the US Army in the Vietnam War, where he received the Bronze Star Medal.

Jim was employed with SCE&G in system control in Charleston and Columbia, SC and retired in 2008.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his second wife, Barbara Barkoot Condon.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Condon Hingos (Ian) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two grandchildren, Noah and Isaac; two step-daughters, Karen Fowler of Columbia, SC and Lisa Carino (David) of Sumter, SC; three step-grandchildren; a sister, Della Condon McElveen of Augusta, GA and her son, Leland McElveen, Jr. of Brunswick, GA, and his long-time dear friend, Daisy Harman, of Lexington, SC.

A visitation for James will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, South Carolina 29072 with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. A burial will occur at 2:00 PM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29229.
