James "Jim" Stanley DeRock

James "Jim" Stanley DeRock, a loving, kind-hearted, wise, hard-working, devoted, caring, and funny man, passed away on December 2, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on October 4, 1961, in Trumansburg, NY, Jim grew up on a few dairy farms with his family in New York, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. He graduated from Gilbert High School in the Class of 1980, where he was voted Most Friendly.

Jim was a certified Master HVAC Technician for over 40 years, making many friends in the HVAC service world. He was affectionately known as "Jimbo the service guy" and "Mr. Clean" by his coworkers, always the man to call when help was needed.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lisa DeRock; his mother, Lucille McRorie DeRock; his children, Chad Kovac and Stephanie DeRock, and his son-in-law, Joel Rodriguez. Jim was a proud grandfather to Adrian, Annabelle, Angela, Arianna, and Alivia Rodriguez. He is also survived by his siblings, Shawn DeRock and Carolyn Mills DeRock (sister-in-law), Barbara Rumbough and David Rumbough (brother-in-law), and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Oscar J. DeRock, and his siblings, Deborah DeRock and Daniel DeRock.

Jim loved spending time with his family and friends, especially around the holidays. He enjoyed playing World of Warcraft on the computer, playing his guitar, and riding his Harley in past years. He will be remembered as a strong, kind, and caring man who loved and was devoted to working hard and supporting his family. Jim always helped others the best he could and made everyone he met smile, even if it was just with a simple stern greeting, "Good morning. How are you today?"

Visitation will be held at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - Lexington Chapel, located at 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072, on December 6, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in the Chapel.

We all love and will miss you so much, Jim. Especially your humor and lightheartedness. May you rest in peace and rock on with the angels.
