

Jim was a Patriot, Honored Veteran, and Outdoorsman. He and his team received decoration from President Ronald Reagan, and he served as a Patriot Guard Rider, honoring others as well. He was most at peace with God when on his Harley, camping, hiking, and canoeing.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, James DuBose Hartley Sr., mother, Colette Jokerst Hartley, sister Joan Marie Garrett, and brother Douglas Charles Hartley. He is survived by his wife, Terry Porter Hartley, brother, Donald Hartley, and children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Jim, we know that you are now walking on the shores of heaven. Family and friends greeting you with a thousand hugs and a million tears of Joy! The sight of God welcoming you gives us peace and happiness. You touched so many by your simple acts of kindness. You inspired us all to forgive others and to forgive ourselves. We will forever cherish our memories of you. We love you, Jim!
Visitation for Jim will be held at Caughman - Harmon Funeral Home, 503 N Lake Dr., Lexington, SC, on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 2:00 PM 3:30 PM. Military funeral services will be at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd Columbia, SC at 12:00 PM. The Patriot Guard Riders will escort the funeral party from Caughman – Harman Funeral Home to the Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 11 am.
