James was born on January 23, 1976, in Cumberland, Maryland to Ursula Miner and James W. Rapson, Sr. James excelled throughout his careers at several paper mills; P.H Glatfelter, Pixelle Specialty Solutions, International Paper, West Rock, and Sylvamo.
James was a loving and caring father who enjoyed spending most of his time with his children. He was always encouraging and supportive of them. To his children, the most memorable encouraging quote was “You put one foot in front of the other, and soon you’ll be walking across the floor".
James enjoyed an active lifestyle through boxing, bicycling, and practicing basketball and softball with his children. He also enjoyed photography and visiting his home state of Pennsylvania. When visiting home, James would say he was most excited to see the beautiful mountains and colorful leaves. But his children say he was really most excited for the Amish baked goods.
He was loved by his family and many others and will be dearly missed. But the family is grateful that he is finally united with Mrs. Rapson again. In addition to his parents, James is survived by his children: Bailey, Ellie, Jamey, and Benjamin; siblings: Karen, Andrew, Jack, and Alice; and many nieces and nephews. A private service was held with immediate family on October 3, 2024.
To honor James’ legacy, please direct any donations to the children’s educational fund. Donations can be sent through Venmo at Bailey-Rapson, or monies can be made out to Bailey Rapson, and sent to the following address:
