LEXINGTON - James H. Skinner, Jr. passed away on March 21, 2018 at home after his battle with cancer. Jim was born on July 17, 1944 in Boiling Springs, SC. He was predeceased by his parents, James H. and Evelyn Johnson Skinner and a son, James H. Skinner, III. He graduated from A.C. Flora High School, attended the University of South Carolina and graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. After serving in the Air Force during the Vietnam era, he continued a career in aviation and held licenses as a FAA certified aircraft mechanic; was a designated mechanic examiner for the State of South Carolina; was a commercial pilot, both single and multi-engine ratings; and was an instrument and flight instructor. He retired from L3 Technologies, Inc. Also, over the years, he restored several antique cars and aircraft.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, the former Cheryle Rickenbaker, a son Brent Wilson Skinner and his wife Laura of Lexington, SC; sisters, Carolyn Stork (Fritz) of Jupiter, FL and Rosemary Fansher of Deltona, FL; grandchildren, Jordan Skinner, Sally Skinner, Abigail Blackwell and Samuel Blackwell of Lexington, SC.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072 with visitation following the service.
