James Richard Wells

On Friday, January 10, 2020, after a long illness, James Richard Wells, husband, father, son and brother, passed away at the age of 72. Jim will forever be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend, Dianne; his family; his church family, and all of those whose lives he touched with his love, advice, understanding and compassion.

Jim was the oldest of seven brothers and one sister, living in several states while growing up and finally settling in South Carolina with the love of his life, Dianne. Jim loved God and Jesus and, together with Dianne, they served a ministry in a women’s prison, changing many lives. His second love was family, and he is survived by his wife, Dianne Wells; his daughters, Linda Branham and Susan Arnold; his stepson, Michael Frye; his mother, Ruth Jensen; his brothers, Gary Wells (Kathy), Michael Russell (Kathe), Rusty Russell (Nettie), Douglas Russell (Daralee), Steven Russell (Dusty) and Theresa Cole (Mike); his brother-in-law, Troy Mobley (Nancy), along with 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, extended family and dear friends. Jim was predeceased by his father, James W. Wells; brother, Robert Jay Russell and stepson, Samuel Frye. An immediate family viewing will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the Lexington Church of God.

For family and friends, a home going service for Jim will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Lexington Church of God, 1331 Nazareth Road, Lexington, SC 29073. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Dianne, we are so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Jim. Our condolences go to you and your family. He was a wonderful man and a devoted man at the Chapel. If you should need anything let us know. We love you all.
