
WEST COLUMBIA – Funeral services for James M. Williams, 79, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, downtown Columbia. Officiating is Rev. Neil Mathias. Pallbearers are Sam Williams, John Comstock, Jim Comstock, Mark Williams, Brigman Brannnon and Drew Comstock. Burial will be held in Petersburg, VA on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Blandford Cemetery.
Mr. Williams was born March 13, 1935 in Colonial Heights, VA and passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014. He was the son of the late Norman Harrison and Ellen Nase Robertson Williams. He graduated high school in 1953 and graduated with a business degree from Virginia Tech in 1962. He was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Germany for 2 years.
Mr. Williams worked as a Pharmaceutical Representative for Smith Miller and Patch, Cooper Labs, Schering and Berlex and retired after 27 years. He loved spending time at his beach house in Ocean Isle and went to Hawaii every January when it became too cold in Columbia.
Mr. Williams is survived by his beloved sister, Mary Ellen Comstock of Colonial Heights, VA and a beloved twin brother Samuel M. Williams of Isle of Palms, SC, many nieces and nephews, and his best friend and roommate, Bob Shipley. He is predeceased by his sister Rosa W. Cannon of Colonial Heights, VA and brothers, Wirt R. Williams, of Petersburg, VA, Norman H. Williams, Jr. of Ft. Wayne, IN and John B. Williams of Danville, VA.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Palmetto Hospice nurse, Mary Gant (Little Feet), Home Instead, and Laurel Crest, especially Amanda Mahan, Amy Mathis, and Rosalinda Adams.
