LEXINGTON - Joan Elizabeth Mustard, of Lexington, South Carolina, wife of Harry Stoll Mustard III, died January, 15, 2018. She was born May 27, 1952 in Stamford, Connecticut, eldest daughter of Dorian Charbonneau and Joan Bombard Charbonneau. Moving frequently, she attended ten schools before graduating from Munich American High School. She received a Bachelor of Science in History degree from the University of the State of New York and a Master of Science in Public Administration from Webster University. She was a certified Paralegal. Her work career was as varied as her addresses, but her most fulfilling jobs were teaching literacy skills at a men’s homeless shelter in North Carolina and running a regional nonprofit agency in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. She enjoyed the arts and played violin as a youth. After her retirement she took up the dulcimer. She was a voracious reader, played bridge, researched genealogy, loved travel, and dabbled in languages. When her family moved to Germany she immediately acclimated to the country, the language, and its traditions, and often said she must have been German in a past life, as she had many deja-vu experiences there. She had the good fortune to live in Germany for 10 years. She treasured her relationships with her husband, her cats, her children, her grandchildren, her 3 sisters, and her good friends. She was proud of her French-Canadian heritage, her relationship to Sacagawea, and her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was predeceased by her father, Dorian Charbonneau.
