

LEXINGTON - John “Johnny” Eric Anderson died quietly on August 25, 2017, at Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC. He was 72 years old. Johnny was a long-time resident of Lexington and was an adored and loved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. John served two years in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a respected sales representative for Unverferth Manufacturing Co. for more than 42 years, covering VA, NC and SC. He was generous with his time supporting his beloved farmer and dealer friends, often spending hours in the field or at dealerships to insure proper operation of equipment. John was reared in Methodist parsonages throughout the southern tier of Virginia and, during a lifetime, kept in touch with friends made in each location. John was graduated from Franklin County HS in Rocky Mount, VA, and from Emory & Henry College in Emory, VA. He earned his Masters degree from VCU in Richmond, VA.
John is survived by his wife, Sarah, of 33 years; his son, Shaun and companion, Leslie, of Nashville; his daughter, Kara Lee Pfau and her husband, Tim and his two granddaughters, Cameron and Cassidy of Atlanta; his brother, Marshall and wife, Elena of South Kate, KY; his brother, Carey and wife, Silvia of Oakland, NJ, and Carey’s son, Scott and wife, Maribeth of Washington, DC; niece, Missy of Sanford, NC, and nephew, Marshall III and wife, Catherine of Burlington, NC, and their children, Will and Caroline. John was predeceased by his mother, Margaret and father, Reverend Marshall and his beloved stepson, Edward.
A visitation will be held at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington, on Friday, September 1 from 6-8 p.m.; and a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at St David Lutheran Church, West Columbia, on Saturday, September 2. Memorials may be made to Pets Inc., 300 Orchard Drive, West Columbia, SC 29170.
Johnny’s love and wit will be sorely missed by all who knew him, including his and Sarah’s many line-dancing friends. “Now please know thy Task complete, thy presence made, thy compassion and works forever felt."
