John was a Captain in the United States Air force. He studied history at Marquette University. He then completed his master’s degree in Public Administration at Georgia Southern. He also studied law at the University of Denver and went on to become a lawyer. John was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of St. Simons Island, GA.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda Reed Wilson O’Meara; son, Joe O’Meara; daughter, Kristen Blake; grandson, Austin Blake; stepchildren, Elise Reed and Perri Reed; brother, Frank O’Meara; and sister, Kathy Fryer.
Funeral services will be held for John at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 9, 2023 with military honors at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229.
