Joseph Charles Stubbs

Joseph Charles Stubbs, “Charlie” of Lexington, SC, passed away on January 2, 2025. He was born in Savannah, Georgia February 2, 1948. Mr. Stubbs was the son of James Marcus Stubbs and Nancy Dubois Stubbs.

Charlie served in the United States Marine Corp, from 1967-1970. Charlie served in the United States Army from 1979-1996, retired SFC.

Vietnam 1968-1969: Purple Heart, Navy Achievement with Combat “V”, Good Conduct.

Army: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation

Attended Brewton-Parker Junior College, and Georgia Southern University.

Charlie worked for the State of South Carolina, before retiring in 2006.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Patti W. Stubbs; son James M. Stubbs III (Jennifer), grandsons; Hayden Henneman (Coralayne), Joseph Beck Stubbs; brother retired Gen. Jerald D. Stubbs (Helen); niece Laura Budd (Charles); nephew Richard Stubbs (Marissa), four Great Grandchildren and numerous cousins.

Charlie was preceded in death, by his parents and brother, James Marcus Stubbs II.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Dr. Lexington, SC 29072.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to a veterans organization.
