Joyce Marlene Rahde Meredith was born September 16, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA and entered into the fullness of God’s joy on August 2, 2022. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. In her younger years, she helped her parents run their marina on Lake Milton (Ohio) before graduating from Youngstown State University and becoming a teacher. She taught at Jackson Milton Elementary and then decided to become a stay at home mom for many years. She then was a substitute teacher for Howland, OH schools for 10 years until the family moved to SC at which time she became a full time Mema, watching grandkids and loving on her family. Known to many as “Mema” beyond her own grandchildren, she poured her life into bringing joy to others. She loved her church family of Swansea First Baptist and made friends everywhere she went. She loved to cook, bake, shop and buy things for others. She had a very sweet and generous spirit.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Dignan Rahde; her father, William Rahde, Sr.; her brother, William Rahde, Jr. and her husband, Richard Meredith. She is survived by her brother, Frank Rahde (Sally); her sister-in-law, MaryLou Rahde; her four children, Brett Meredith (Mary), Chrystie Singleton (Bryan), Chad Meredith (Jane Ann), and Alesia Shaw (Larry); her ten grandchildren, Analese Ryerson (Paul), Johnathan Meredith (Kelsey), Gavin Singleton, Jennifer Singleton, Haley Dickey (Grant), Hannah Meredith, Jane Ashley Meredith, Bria Shaw, Patrick Shaw and Meredith Shaw, and six great grandchildren, Joshua Ryerson, Eleanor Ryerson, Mark Meredith, Isabella Meredith, Isaiah Meredith and Baylor Dickey.
