Judith Swygert Cole

LEXINGTON – Graveside services for Judith Carma Swygert Cole, 75, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Bush River Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

Mrs. Cole was born to Jacob Cephus and Nettie Anita Swygert on July 4, 1940 in New York City, NY and passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. She was raised in West Columbia, SC and graduated from Brookland Cayce High School in 1957. She married Gerald Lee Cole in 1958. Judith was employed with Bell South starting as a long distance operator to a directory sales representative. She had given 28 years of service at the time of her retirement in 2006. She was a member of the Columbia First Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Mrs. Cole is survived by her sister, Virl Caughman (brother-in-law, Steve Caughman deceased); daughters, Sharon Cole Eargle (Calvin) and Jocelyn Seel (Tony); grandchildren, Amanda Zarlenga (Chris), Michael “Scott” Eargle, Erika Cody, KC Cody (Makayla); great-grandchildren, Riley and Makayla Zarlenga, Vivian Ullrich, Emma and Madelyn Cody. Thank you to the staff of White Oak Manor in Newberry for all their wonderful care and hard work when caring for our mother and sister.
