COLUMBIA – June Almond Lewis Hamilton, 93, formerly of Savannah, GA went to unite with her family on Monday, February 10, 2014.
June was born in Andrews NC on May 13, 1920 to the late Dr. Thurston and Louetta Fisher Almond. June was a graduate of Mars Hill College in Asheville, NC and also from UNC Women’s College in Greensboro, NC. June worked for Mecklenburg Furniture in Charlotte, NC for many years.
June was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Dr. Gerald Almond, Charles Almond and sister, Mary Lou Watkins. She was also predeceased by her first husband, John Lewis and her second husband, James Hamilton “Rip”. Surviving are her nephew and caregiver, Jimmy Lee Watkins of Lexington; nephews, Charles Almond of Boynton Beach, FL and Gerald “Skip” Almond of Sylva, NC. She is also survived by cousins, Bob Moss of Greensboro, NC and Patty and Linda McJunkin of Asheville, NC
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
