
She was a graduate of Columbia High School and completed business courses that prepared her for her career in banking and state government. After her retirement, she moved to Gaston, SC where she loved to garden, raising vegetables and planting flowers. She was an animal lover and had a passion for dogs, birds, snakes, chickens and any other pet that touched her heart.
As an excellent cook, she loved to celebrate holidays and special events in her home. Her happiest times were spent at the beach.
Karen was beautiful, witty and blessed with an indomitable spirit that helped her battle chronic health issues later in life. She will be dearly missed.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and E. C. Smith; grandparents, Lonnie and Loulie Glover; sister, Barbara Miller; nephew, Kord Brazell and niece, Kristen Scott.
She is survived by her husband, Forrest Poole; his daughter, Miranda and her sons, Matthew and Nolan; her son, Merit Takach; her daughter, Madison Bell, Robert, Kaden and Lilly; her sister, Lynn Scott and her family; niece, Kappy Brazell Bays and her family and other loving relatives.
