GASTON – Funeral services for Kenneth Pershing Bentley, 77, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Transfiguration Lutheran Church in Cayce.
Mr. Bentley was born March 12, 1940 in Jeffersontown, KY to the late, Russell Bentley, Sr. and Ella England Bentley and passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017.
Mr. Bentley was a retired Baptist Minister. He was the first in his family to graduate high school and college. He would go on to earn a Doctor of Divinity Degree and pastor many churches in Indiana, Kentucky and Alabama. Mr. Bentley had a passion for helping others, especially children, and influenced many of them through his professions of pastor, coach and teacher. His greatest passion was playing golf and was able to enjoy playing up until his death.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori Bethune (Greg) of Opelika, AL; son, Kirt Bentley (Vickie) of West Columbia; sister, Darlene Clark (David) of Lanesville IN; brother, Russell Bentley, Jr. (Linda) of Georgetown, IN; four grandchildren, Aaron Bethune, Lauren Postell, Caleb Bethune, Savannah Bethune and one great-grandson, Owen Postell. He was predeceased by his sister, Carolyn McClary.
Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
