It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kirk “Lance” Westberry, who left us on September 17, 2024 at the age of 56. Lance was known for his big, infectious smile that could light up any room and his zest for life, which he lived to the fullest.
Lance is survived by his treasured wife of 32 years, Stacey Sessions Westberry, and his cherished daughters, Caroline Elaine Westberry and Kirsten Dreher Westberry. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family deeply as they were the lights of his life.
A golf enthusiast, Lance spent countless hours on the greens locally and worldwide, perfecting his swing and enjoying the camaraderie of friends. His passion for the sport was evident to all who knew him, and he cherished every moment spent on the course.
Lance’s love for life extended far beyond golf. He embraced every opportunity for adventure and joy, living each day with enthusiasm and a positive spirit. His larger-than-life personality and warm heart made him a beloved friend, colleague, and family member.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Other surviving family members include his beloved mother, Mary Westberry; his mother-in-law, Peggy Sessions; his sisters, Wendy Westberry (Erich) and Renee Trotter (Benard); brother, Leslie Westberry; nieces, Ansley Morgan, Corey Ayer, and Courtney Hayes; and nephews, Ansel Benard Trotter, III and Wyatt Westberry.
He was predeceased by his father, Leslie Clark Westberry, Jr.; his father-in-law, Thomas Roundtree Sessions, Jr.; and grandparents: Claude and Sybil Dreher and Leslie and Alice Westberry. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org/) in Lance’s honor.
Rest in peace, Lance. Your smile and spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
