Kristy Ann (Shafer) Taylor, loving wife and devoted mother, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023 after a brave battle with cancer. She was 51 years old.
Kristy lived in West Columbia, South Carolina with her husband, Ronnie and their two boys, Zeb and Trig, as well as their beloved dog, Dansby Trout. Kristy was the daughter of Doug Shafer and the late Diane Connell.
Her family was the center of her universe, and she dedicated her life to ensuring their happiness and wellbeing. She balanced the demands of parenting with her husband’s career as Chief of Staff with the South Carolina Army National Guard, the boys’ education and their sports schedules, always managing to keep everything organized and running smoothly.
Kristy was a warm and loving person with a generous heart. She had a contagious smile and quick wit that made her a joy to be around. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she went to great lengths to make sure they felt her love every day. She was a devoted wife, always supportive of her husband and his career, and a proud mother who cherished every moment spent with her boys.
Kristy’s strength and courage were evident in the way she fought her illness. She refused to let cancer define her and remained determined to stay present with her boys. She never wanted to be an inconvenience and was grateful for every moment she had with them. Her unwavering positivity and resilience inspired all who knew her.
Kristy’s love for children led her to Holland Avenue Baptist Church where she served as a preschool teacher to so many precious children.
Kristy will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and courage that will continue to inspire others for years to come. May she rest in peace, knowing that she made a profound impact on the lives of those she touched.
In addition to her dad, Doug Shafer (Vicki), she is survived by her sister, Kelli Sabaka (Mike); nephews, Tyler Wilson (Nicole and son Paul) and Garrett Sabaka; stepfather, Phil Connell; step sister, Amanda Atwell (Kevin Queen and son Nash) and step brother, Steven Atwell (Lisa and sons Owen and Ethan and daughter Ella Mills).
We love you to the moon and back!
