Dwain worked as a supervising mechanic at the City of West Columbia maintenance shop for 33 years. He had a strong love for mud racing, and just racing in general. One of his favorite pastimes was hanging out in his shop with family and friends and “throwing something on the grill”. Dwain was a member at Center Pointe Community Church.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 31 years, Tammy Mathias; daughter, Meranda Austin (Benny); son, Tyler Mathias (Brittany) and grandson, Harmon Austin.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and following the service at the family residence. The family requests casual dress for those who attend.
