Leonard Gray Huffstetler III

COLUMBIA - Leonard Gray “Cook” Huffstetler, III Cook died suddenly Saturday, September 29, 2012 in Columbia, SC. He was born in Lenoir, NC on June 28, 1949 and was a graduate of Lenoir High School. He married his high school sweet heart on October 29, 1965. He worked as a sales rep for Broyhill Industries and after settling in Columbia, SC in 1978 began working retail furniture ending his career at Boyles Furniture in Hickory, NC. Cook was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with family.

Cook is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard, Jr and Marie Huffstetler; a brother, David, a daughter, Letitia “Tish” Haslebacher; an infant son, Leonard, IV and a sister-in-law, Karen Gaar.

Cook leaves behind his wife, Virginia “Jennie”, daughters Shelley Nguyen (Binh) and Susan Kijak (Michael) all of Columbia, SC, son-in-law, Dean Haslebacher, Lakewood, WA, brothers, Gary Huffstetler (Donna), Erwin Lee King all of Lenoir, NC, three grandchildren, Hayley Haslebacher of Lakewood, WA, Joshua and Collin Nguyen of Columbia, SC, mother-in-law, Emma “Susie” Barlow; father-in-law, Bruce Barlow (Joann) of Lenoir, NC. He is survived by aunts, Ann Gryder, Columbia, SC and Phyllis Huffstetler and uncle, Robert King, Lenoir, NC, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral arrangements are being coordinated with Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Lexington, SC and Greer-McElveen in Lenoir, NC. A celebration of life and inurnment will be Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 2pm at Greer-McElveen in Lenoir, NC with burial at Belleview Cemetery in Lenoir, NC.
