

LEXINGTON – Linda Harmon Schneider, 71, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church with Pastor Faye Stevens and the Reverend Dr. Leon Rawl officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lexington, SC.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, George W. Schneider, Mark Schneider, David Schneider, Paul Schneider, Truitt Brittingham, Chad Harmon, and cousin, Phil Hamby. Honorary Pallbearers are the Faith Circle of the United Methodist Women at Mt. Horeb.
Mrs. Schneider was born October 25, 1940, in Lexington County and was the daughter of the late Jesse J. and Duleth Folk Harmon. She was a graduate of Lexington High School class of 1958. She was recognized upon her graduation for attending 12 years of school without ever missing a day.
Prior to her marriage to George L. Schneider on May 9, 1964, she was employed in the Columbia Corporate Office of Colonial Grocery stores. After marrying and the birth of her children, she helped George L run George L. Schneider Produce which delivered fresh grown vegetables three times a week to various local grocery stores (Bi-lo, Piggly Wiggly) and open air markets (Bullock’s Garden Fresh). She was a member of the Faith Circle at Mt. Horeb. After Mrs. Schneider and her husband retired from the produce business they were fortunate to travel extensively visiting all 50 states at least once.
Survivors include her husband, George L. Schneider and her children, son, Kirk Schneider and daughter, Wendy Schneider. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Ellis and Sara Harmon, Carlisle and Linda Harmon, and Clyde and Bonnie Harmon; sister-in-law, Evelyn Schneider Brittingham; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church,or Susan G. Komen for the cure of Breast Cancer.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Lexington Oncology, Dr. Vijaya Korrapati, Lexington Medical Center Infusion Center, Marie, and the Eighth Floor Oncology Staff.
