

WEST COLUMBIA – Lindsay Hightower Cathcart, 45, died early Thursday morning, October 6, 2011, at Duke Medical Center, following a long battle with breast cancer. Her husband was by her side.
Lindsay is survived by her husband, Richard Charles Richardson Cathcart, Sr.; and her two children, Eliza Lindsay Cathcart and Richard Charles Richardson Cathcart, Jr. all of West Columbia; her parents, Ronald and Jane Hightower of Lexington; her brother, Wells Hightower of Lexington; her niece, Katherine McDevitt; her nephews, Samuel McDevitt, Jack Cathcart, and Manning Cathcart, all of Greenwood; her uncle, Lindsay Wells and his wife Michelle of Cary, NC; and her Aunt Gulie Hightower Molkenthin and husband Peter, of Indiana; and a host of other family and friends.
Lindsay was the granddaughter of the late Margaret and Bill Wells of Greenwood, and the late Avery and Edith Hightower of Ridgespring.
Born in Columbia, SC, she was a graduate of Lexington High School, the University of South Carolina, and the USC School of Law. She was employed at the Office of Research Compliance at USC.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Rd, West Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
