

Marion was a life-long member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and graduated from Lexington High School in 1958. During his senior year of high school, he was president of the student body and was selected for first team all-state football, basketball, and baseball. He played on many great teams at Lexington High under legendary coach, J.W. Ingram.
Marion went on to attend the University of South Carolina, where he received a full baseball scholarship and played for the Gamecocks for two years. After two years, he left school and married Patsy, his wife of 62 years until her passing on October 7, 2022.
He worked for the oil business for 47 years. The first 12 years, he worked for Esso Standard Oil Company and went on to work for Keenan Oil Company for the next 35 years. He received many sales awards for both companies and fully retired in 2007.
Marion and Patsy had a home on North Lake Drive in Lexington for many years before moving to their mountain home in the Maggie Valley area in 2014. He lived his final years with his nephew and niece, H. Ralph Corley, Jr. and Patricia Corley.
Marion is survived by his son, William Barry Corley (Kathleen); daughter, Lisa Marie Corley; grandchildren, Meagan Elizabeth Cheek and Adam Corley Cheek; and step-grandchildren, Anthony Taddeo and Ainsley Taddeo.
The body will lie in state from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1430 North Lake Drive, Lexington, South Carolina 29072, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends following the service, with burial to take place in the church cemetery.
