Mary Clark Wooldridge

July 26, 1946September 14, 2020

Mary Clark Wooldridge passed away on September 14, 2020 from COVID-19. Mary was born July 26, 1946 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of the late Roy Kenneth and Dorothy Marie Ehrisman. She was a 1964 graduate of Jacksonville High School, Jacksonville, North Carolina and a 1967 graduate of Mercy School of Nursing, Charlotte, North Carolina. She loved being a nurse and spent the bulk of career working with children with special needs at Richland School District One. She also spent over 20 years working part-time as a home health care nurse. Over 50 years of her life were spent as a licensed and practicing registered nurse, a feat she was enormously proud to accomplish.

Mary was a strong advocate for her students and was honored for her hard work and dedication in 2009 by Mayor Bob Coble when he declared May 12th to be “Mary Wooldridge Day” in the City of Columbia. Well-known for her colorful personality, Mary will be remembered for her zest for life, her love of all things pink, her compassionate nursing care, and the love of her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children Mark Wooldridge of Columbia, South Carolina and Susan Yeatts of Lexington, South Carolina, her three grandchildren Mary Morgan, Thomas, and Ellie Yeatts all of Lexington, her sister Karen Ehrisman of St. Augustine, Florida, and her nephew Richard Zasada of Burnsville, Minnesota.

A memorial will be held at a later date, when it is safer to gather. To receive more information when details for this memorial are available, please send your contact information via email to or by mail to Susan Yeatts, 368 Presque Isle Rd., Lexington, SC 29072.

So saddened to learn of Mary's passing. She and I went to high school together and shared many good times. I always loved her vivacious personality and the way she spoke what was on her mind. You always know where you stood with Mary. She talked with love and compassion about her special needs kids when I last saw her at our 50th class reunion. She will be missed by many.
Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.

Mary and I were on a yearbook committee together our senior year at Mercy and we spent hours looking at pictures and deciding which to use. It was such a fortunate thing that many of us reconnected at our 50 year school reunion, and talked old times as well as catching up after so many years. Needless to say, we had changed a LOT!! Sometimes we are given a moment to know people again , for which I will be forever grateful.
My sympathy to Mary’s family. I know she will be missed

Mary was the best nurse ever at Fairwold. She loved those kids and she took great care of our daughter. Many fond memories of talking with her in her office . We are so sad she left this earth so soon.

Mary & I are 1st cousins. She has always had a special place in my heart. Mary, my sister Donna & I we’re born within 11 1/2 months of each other and enjoyed much time together in our early years in PA. Mary could always make me laugh. I enjoyed her sense of humor, her crazy stories, her engaging personality. We share careers in nursing also.
My love & sympathy to Mary’s family. I wish you strength & peace during this hard time. Her love for you was strong & constant. Mary was an angel on earth to many: family, friends & patients she cared for during her nursing career. She will forever be in my heart & memories.
I’m happy to share a favorite photo taken in 1950...L to R: me, Mary, Donna.
