

Michael “Mike” Bailey Vines, 69, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on May 26, 2026. Born June 20, 1956 in Edgefield, Mike will be remembered with deep respect for a life marked by steady work, enduring strength, and faithful devotion to those he loved.
Mike graduated from Airport High School in 1975. He later earned a Certified / Forklift credential from Midlands Technical College in September of 2012, reflecting the same determined spirit he carried throughout his life.
Though currently medically retired, Mike spent many years in demanding lines of work, including construction and preparing and prepping food for various restaurants. Through each season, he met responsibility with perseverance and took pride in doing what needed to be done, day after day.
Mike was a member of Laurel Baptist Church in West Columbia, SC, where his steadfast presence and quiet commitment reflected a life grounded in faith and constancy.
In his personal time, Mike found comfort and enjoyment in simple, familiar pleasures—fishing, listening to music, watching old childhood TV shows such as Andy Griffith, and game shows like The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. He also valued time spent hanging out with friends, offering the kind of loyalty that does not waver.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Marshall Bailey Vines and Margaret Irene “Rena” Bledsoe Vines. He is survived by his sisters, Darlene Amick (Robert), Julie Jones (Allen) and Donna Steedly (Michael “Scott”); nieces Alana, Emily, Meredith, Jamie, Megan, and Lauren.
A memorial service for Mike will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 30, 2026 at New Life Baptist Church, 2825 Ashland Rd, Columbia, SC 29210. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the church.
