

LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Myra Lee Whatley Wolfe, 81, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church with interment in Beulah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Gilbert. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.Mrs. Wolfe was born May 21, 1933 in Blackville, SC and passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015. She was a daughter of the late William O. Whatley, Sr. and Ruby Hutto Whatley. Mrs. Wolfe was a registered nurse and graduated from the Medical College of South Carolina School of Nursing in 1955. Myra met Harry, the love of her life, while he was a life guard at Sesquicentennial State Park in Columbia in late 1954. They were married after a whirlwind romance on May 1, 1955. Myra and Harry were soon to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Myra dedicated most of her life caring for others as a registered nurse and operating room supervisor for the local hospitals of Lexington Medical Center, Providence Hospital, and Palmetto Richland Memorial. She ended her nursing career with Lexington Medical Center after over 30 years of dedicated service. She will be remembered as the matriarch of the Wolfe family and she was loved by everyone she touched.Surviving are her husband, Harry Lewis Wolfe of Lexington; sons, Harry Wolfe, Jr. (Rhonda) of Columbia, John Wolfe (Shelly) of Mt. Pleasant, Kent Wolfe (Judy) of Lexington, Joseph Wolfe (Tracy) of West Columbia; grandchildren, Eric, Shannon, Laura, Ginny, Sarah, Katie, Brittany, Shelley, Lexie, Tommy; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Bradley, Annie, Mykala and brother, Robert M. Whatley of Charleston. She was predeceased by her brother, William O. Whatley.
