Nell was a graduate of Hemmingway High School and Columbia Business College. She devoted herself to her family and home as a homemaker, and she also worked for three years at Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Nell later built a long and steady career in healthcare, retiring from Lexington Medical Extended Care in 1997 after 20 years of service.
A faithful presence at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nell served on the church music and worship committee, offering her time with quiet dedication and a deep respect for the life of the congregation.
In her personal life, Nell found joy in simple, enduring pleasures—she was a lake lover and a gardener, drawn to the calm of the water and the patient beauty of things nurtured and grown. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving friend to all, someone whose warmth and kindness were felt in the everyday moments that matter most.
Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Donald George Wilson; her sisters, Frances G. Hinely, Viola S. Cribb, and Norma S. Miller; and brother, Lonnie C. Stone, Jr. (Ann).
She is survived by her daughter, Donna W. Clarke (James) of Gilbert, SC; granddaughter, Ashlyn M. Clarke Lander (Bill); grandsons, Parker J. Clarke and Preston Clarke; and five great-grandchildren, Mary Ellen Lander, Lily Lander, Emma Lander, Elizabeth Lander, and Priscilla Lander.
Visitation will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 213 St. Johns Church Road, Lexington, SC 29072, on August 30, 2026, at 1:30 pm, with a funeral service to follow at 2:30 pm. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
