Oliver Ray Sherwood, 90, Lexington, SC passed away on September 8, 2021. He was born on February 24, 1931 in Benbush, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Clarence E. and Leota Shirley Sherwood.
Mr. Sherwood worked for Cincinnati Milacron for 34 years as a Machinist. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded 2 Bronze Stars for Valor. Mr. Sherwood loved to listen to music and loved spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Sandra Bond of Taylors, SC, Leonard E. Sherwood of Pomaria, SC, Vanessa L. White of Pelion, SC, Rebecca J. Stollstorff of Lexington, SC, Michelle Cormier of West Columbia, SC; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Deloris Novak of Baltimore, MD. Mr. Sherwood was predeceased by his wife, Jane Marie Anderson Sherwood; son, Randy R. Sherwood and sister, Judith Ridings.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC 29902. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
