

Mrs. Tarlton was a member of Lexington Baptist Church for nearly 50 years. She sang in the LBC Praise and Worship Choir and the Legacy Senior Adult Choir. She also participated in the Lexington Passion Play for many years. She and her late husband, Jerry, were once recognized by Lexington Baptist as the Senior Adult Man and Woman of the Year. She served on missions teams, both nationally and internationally.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a homemaker, raising her children and helping with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed serving as a substitute teacher at Oak Grove Elementary for several years.
Mrs. Tarlton was married to the late Jerry Tarlton for 55 years. She is survived by her son, Gregg Tarlton and his wife, Nancy, of Lexington; her daughter, Kathy Tarlton Truluck and her husband, Stan, of Chapin; three of the greatest joys of her life, her grandson, Luther “Luke” Truluck of Lexington and granddaughters, Josie Tarlton of Charlotte, NC and Claire Tarlton of Lexington; her sister, Barbara Wheeler and brothers, Wayne Snipes (Patsy) and Tommy Snipes (Sandra), all of Chester; brother-in-law, Richard Tarlton (Mary Sue) of China Grove, NC; sister-in-law, Ellen Lee of Elgin; sister-in-law, Linda Tarlton of Lexington; sister-in-law, Janice Tarleton of Warner Robins, GA, along with numerous nieces and nephews including her faithful visitor, nephew Jeff Tarlton of Lexington. Mrs. Tarlton also leaves behind many cherished memories with close friends, especially those that played endless hands of the card game “Hand and Foot” over the years.
The family wishes to express love and appreciation to her two faithful caregivers, Seria Cannon and Sharon Austin, who became family to all of us. Additionally, thank you to Dr. William Korman, the Nurses and Physical Therapists from Kindred Home Health and the Nurse Practitioners from SC Housecalls for their compassionate medical care and support.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Lexington Baptist Church with burial immediately following in Woodridge Memorial Park, Lexington, SC. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
