Phyllis O. Johnson, 94, of Irmo, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was born in Columbia, South Carolina on March 16, 1929. Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of Clive and Lila O’Neill.
Mrs. Johnson was a charter member of Gateway Baptist Church and loved to sing in the choir and work in the kitchen. From her very own kitchen table, she loved watching the birds feast at the birdfeeder that Jimmy filled daily. She was particularly amused when the rabbits came to visit! She enjoyed playing games with family and friends and loved singing in the Mickey Mouse Club which she was a member as a small child.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her only son, James “Jimmy” W. Johnson, Jr., and many cousins and friends.
Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by her husband, James “Bill” W. Johnson, Sr.; her parents, Clive and Lila O’Neill; and her sister, Vyrgill.
A memorial service will be held at Bush River Memorial Gardens at the chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation following the service.
