Ralph Rufus Keisler Sr.

Ralph spent many hours in his younger years volunteering for community youth activities. As a coach of Little League baseball and football, he mentored many Lexington County youth. His passion was not only teaching the sport but coaching his players as young men - emphasizing good sportsmanship on and off the field, and the importance of teamwork and building friendships through sports.

Ralph was most at home outdoors and enjoyed spending his time working on construction projects and helping others. He found joy and peace in his yard work and until his final days enjoyed mowing and raking the yard. Whether at his late mother-in-law’s table in his younger years or enjoying a meal with family at a local restaurant more recently, a good meal was always the way to Ralph’s heart. One of his greatest joys in his last years was going out to eat with his grandson, Johnathan.

Ralph served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed life and his job working for Lexington County Building Maintenance, where he served his county until retirement. A man of few words, Ralph showed his faith and love by always being ready to lend a helping hand, and many people will tell you of times he showed up to help his church, family, neighbors, and community.

A wonderful Dad, Husband, “Poppie”, and friend to many - his dry wit and faithful friendship will be missed. Ralph is survived by his wife, Pastor Dottie Keisler, and children, Troy Keisler, Toby Keisler, and Sunshine Tucker; brother, Larry Keisler and sister, Sybil Roland. He delighted in the 13 grandchildren he goes ahead of to heaven. He was predeceased by his son, Ralph Rufus Keisler, Jr. We all look forward to reunion day!

Visitation will be held from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. A funeral service will take place at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Red Bank United Methodist Church, 2909 Old Barnwell Road, Lexington, SC 29073, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
