Reggie was predeceased by his parents, Wallace “Mack” Reginald McCaston and Grace Anderson McCaston; his brother, Steven Wallace McCaston and his grandson, Gavyn Wallace-Wayne McCaston. He is survived by his devoted children: Ashley Nicole McCaston (Mike), James “Jamie” Russell McCaston (Kitty), and Steven “Stevie” Reginald McCaston (Rachel); nine grandchildren: Saylor, Levi, Mac, Aleena, Colton, Jaxon, Gracelyn, Luna, Raylan; brother, David Randall McCaston and his faithful dog, Gunner.
Born and raised in Lexington, SC, Reggie was a 1978 graduate of Lexington High School. He was a member of Lexington Masonic Lodge #152 and Jamil Shrine Temple. He was a man of many talents: experienced electrician, avid boat enthusiast/restorer, hunter and outdoorsman, softball coach, loving father, doting grandfather, faithful friend, incessant flirt, exceptional smart-ass and inappropriate joke teller. If you asked him, he was a jack-of-all-trades and master of none. Always ready to lend a hand to any project, in recent years he promoted himself to supervisor and watched his sons do the work instead. Those who knew him knew where to find him on the weekend. If not on the lake, he would be in his shop watching NASCAR or Clemson football, drinking some ice-cold beer, supervising any work being done, and entertaining anyone who dropped by just to hang out. But most recently, his favorite hobby was flirting with all of his nurses, caregivers, female visitors, and ex-wife Denise, and watching endless episodes of Blue Bloods.
To know Reggie, is to love Reggie. But first you must understand Reggie. He was loved and adored by so many that met him. Reggie had endless stories, jokes and “Reggie-ism’s” that will live on for decades to come through his family and friends. His greatest pride and accomplishment were his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted and loving son, father, brother, Pop Pop, uncle, and friend. He had many “wayward sons” he took in under his wing (y’all know who you are) who went on to be productive members of society, in spite of it.
The family will receive visitors at 11:00 am Friday, April 29, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC, with memorial service immediately after at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children – Greenville, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
The family would like to give special thanks to Thomas and Jessica for all their love and support of Reggie and the entire family. Reggie will be deeply missed and forever loved and remembered. So raise a Natty Light to the man, the myth, the legend, and tell a story or a wildly inappropriate joke in his honor. Until we meet again, he is on baby duty in heaven with Gavyn.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.caughmanlexington.com for the McCaston family.
