Renee Black Taylor, 79, of Columbia, SC entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 10, 2022. She was born March 8, 1943 in Saluda, the daughter of the late George Branham Hanson and Marie Black Hanson.
Mrs. Taylor was a proud 1961 Saluda High School graduate who adored her classmates. She was active with her school chorus and church choir, where she developed her love for music. Mrs.Taylor also attended and graduated Columbia Business College. She retired in 2006 after 35 years as a secretary for the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and the South Carolina Department of Social Services. Outside of her career, she had many kinds of interests which kept her busy. She enjoyed cooking/baking (eager to try new recipes), crafting (the latest cute idea), painting (especially her birdhouses), and reading (good novels). Traveling, shopping, and dinner with friends were always a delight to her.
Mrs. Taylor was proud of where she came from and was glad she grew up on a farm in the country. She truly enjoyed life for all its beauty and simplicities. She was very fun-loving to her friends and family and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. To all who knew her, she had a beautiful smile, a very infectious laugh and a deep care for others. As an avid nightly reader of her Bible, she took great comfort in knowing God as her savior.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband, James Fred Taylor; daughter, Tara Taylor Howell (Albert); son, Jarrod Taylor; son, Jonohn Taylor; stepson, Keith Taylor (Dana); grandson, Brandon Taylor; granddaughter, Taylor Howell; granddaughter, Ashland Howell and grandson, Justin Ross.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church cemetery.
