
LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Richard Rodney Parkinson, 72, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Lexington Baptist Church with interment at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
Mr. Parkinson was born February 10, 1941 in Beallsville, PA and passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013. He was a son of the late James Richard Naylor Parkinson and Maude Elinor Beall Parkinson. Mr. Parkinson was a retired military chaplain in the United States Air Force and his greatest joy in life was in serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Marie Parkinson; daughters, Melanie Ann Parkinson, Melissa Dawn Cook (Edd); grandson, Parker Brannon Cook; brothers, James Parkinson (Sharon) and William Parkinson. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Elinor Amanda Parkinson.
