Robbie was born on December 8, 1936 to Rudell McDonald and Ruby McDonald Rogers.
Robbie graduated from Hartsville High School on May 28, 1954, though some of her high school years were attended at Antioch High School. Over the years, she and her classmates have continued to gather annually to celebrate their longtime friendship.
Robbie married Master Sergeant Walter Yarborough Jr. on October 2, 1955. Together their marriage of 46 years blessed them with three sons, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Robbie was a proud wife and mother but her biggest joy has always been her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
During the military career of her husband, Robbie was able to experience a brief stay in Germany with her three small sons. And there began her love of travel. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, sharing memories and laughter over a glass of wine. In 2004, Robbie went back to school and earned her Nurses Aide Certificate at Horry Georgetown Technical College. Robbie found enjoyment and satisfaction in assisting in the care of the elderly.
Robbie has been a long standing member of Mt. Horeb Church where she enjoyed the relationships created through her Sunday School class and through her volunteer activities with Vacation Bible School.
Robbie’s legacy has truly made a mark and she will be missed.
Robbie is survived by her children; Walter Brent Yarborough (Lorri) of Lexington, S.C., William Michael Yarborough (Jackie) of Conway, S.C., and Donald Craig Yarborough (Helen) of Myrtle Beach, S.C. Her siblings; Carroll McDonald (Rae) of Hartsville, S.C., Virginia Gregory of Inman, S.C., Lynn Hall (Paul) of Hartsville, S.C., Bill Talbert (Debbie) of Leesville, S.C. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Faye Sowell, her granddaughter, Karen Yarborough Tanner, her daughter-in-law, Ramona Yarborough and her longtime and dearest friend, Linda Welborne.
The family invites you to join them in celebrating Robbie’s life on Thursday January 30, 2025 at 2:30 pm at Mt. Horeb Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, South Carolina 29072. A visitation for Robbie will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm.
