I remember Bob as a mentor and friend during the year 1967-1968 when he and i share a room in Bien Hoa Viet Nam. He was a great leader and was a great example to me.

Little girls everywhere believe that their fathers are heros. For most, that changes as they grow and mature, and they come to see their parents as simply people. My sister and I are so fortunate to have a father who remained our hero for his entire life. While physically diminished before his death, he was never more heroic than in his calm acceptance and quiet daily struggle with the diseases that so many battle. His triumphs were there in his unwavering recognition of my mother and his enjoyment of our hugs and kisses, when all other expressions were lost to him. While all of Dad's military awards are impressive, it doesn't take medals to make a hero. It just takes a man who loves his family so much. Just exactly like my Daddy. We will love you forever, and you will always be my hero. - Susan
