
Robert “Rocko” Walter Hundley, 90, went into the arms of God peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born the 12th of October in Giles County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Justine Smith Hundley Culler and Daniel Marchant Culler, both of Orangeburg, and the late Robert Washington Hundley of Leakesville, North Carolina.
Mr. Hundley was educated in the Orangeburg schools, graduating in 1951. Thereafter, he received an AB degree from the University of South Carolina in 1954 and his LLB (JD) from the USC School of Law. After spending 3 years on active duty with the U.S. Air Force, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. Mr. Hundley served with the FBI before being hired by AT&T as security manager, covering several Bell South states. He retired after a successful career of 28 years. Throughout his life, he shared his passion for farming, fishing, hunting, investing, literature, and of course, the Gamecocks.
Mr. Hundley was predeceased by his son, Daniel Marchant Hundley of Charleston; sisters, Mary Coleman of Columbia and Susan Hagan of Murrells Inlet; and his canine companion, Bear “Bud” Hundley.
He is survived by his loyal wife, Jean, of 45 years. Always proudest of his children, R. Walter Hundley (Cindi) of Charleston, Lyndon Kasprzak of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Mike Hundley of Pooler, Georgia, and Charles Hundley (Sandy) of Newnan, Georgia. Proudly called Papa by Elisabeth Nissan (Benjamin) of New York, Richards Hundley of Charleston, Cynthia Hundley of Charleston, Stephen Hundley of Tallahassee, Florida, Melissa Hundley of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Caitlin Allen (Andrew) of Sharpsburg, Georgia, Jake Hundley (Hannah) of Newnan, Georgia, Amanda Kasprzak of Orlando, Florida, and Bobby Kasprzak of Orlando, Florida. “Big Papa” to great-grandchildren, Landon Allen, Cohen Allen, and Theo Hundley. Also survived by sisters, Justine Culler and Julia Culler Wolfe of Bamberg. Rocko also leaves several cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 28, 2024 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1130 St. Peters Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Burial at Fort Jackson National Cemetery will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025.
